Neil Burbidge, Alberta wins the January 16-22 Arizona Winter chain shoot singles championship; with a lone 200. Marlin Egeland led ND shooters with a 198 while Leonard Raddohl wins three Class D awards and tying for Vets Handicap with a 90 on Thursday. Don Ackerson, led ND shooters in Thursday’s singles with a 94. Garry Hill and Richard McCoy by breaking the first 100 in Saturday’s singles added a brass tack to their 100 plaques on the Club House wall. Weather for the most part was good, but there was some wind on Thursday and Saturday with it being a bit on the cold side. Saturday’s singles approached 13 squads. Many shooters left Casa Grande Grounds on Sunday for Tucson and the Pin Shoot beginning tomorrow. Pins are given to shooters who have attended the shoot for so many years with some shooters going to receive their 40 year pins. Mugs Aakrann, at the time she died was a 40 year member. Carl Anderson is a 30 year member and Bob and Annie Munson are 30 year initiates this year. For ND shooters planning on coming to the Spring Grand a ND picture is planned for after the completion of the first 100 on the Spring Grand Singles Championship. Marlin Egeland, ND, is congratulated by his AZ Winter Chain Trapshooting friend Capt. Francis B Coughlin, Connecticut. Marlin Won Class B with a 98/100 in Saturday’s Singles. This puts a brass tack on his 100 Plaque hanging in the Casa Grande Club House. Leonard Raddohl, ND, 91/97 for the Class D trophy looks on. |

Don Volz Casa Grande Club owner shows Claude Felix, Missouri his new devise that measures target angles. He says it is very precise. Claude has shot over 300,000 handicap in his career. He mentioned that when Harry Truman was president he saw and talked to him occasionally. |

Karrol Hillebrand, Missouri, is back on the Winter Chain. The many times All American and Missouri Hall of Famer won SR Vet on Friday with a 95. With him is last year’s Arizona Handicap Champion Jay Alderman. He Broke his first 200 at the recent Tucson Fun in the Sun Shoot. On Friday his 98 in Singles tied him for the Vet’s title. A year ago he and Karrol faced off for a shoot of for the Casa Grande New Year’s day singles title with 199’s. Karrol won the title. With them is Dorothy Felix, Missouri who has just posted Friday’s Handicap Scores. She has helped Clubs on the Winter Chain for many years cashiering and other duties. |
