Hal Getzan

Hal started shooting trap in Alaska in the sixties, before that he was a guide; he thought tracking and shooting grizzlies, sheep, moose and wolves in below zero weather was too easy so he took up shooting trap which was more demanding.
Hal was elected to the Alaska Hall of Fame in the 1970's and started his winning ways immediately: buying a new Red Flyer wagon to haul off all his new trophies. Hal moved to Sun City, AZ in 1986 and served on the Phoenix Trap & Skeet Board for a number of years and then, on the State Board of Directors, before becoming the Manager for the Phoenix Trap & Skeet Club.
I started shooting with Ol' Happy Hal around 1991 and have never seen anything but a smile and a warm greeting regardless of who it was. He is a real inspiration to new shooters, always helping in any way he can.

Hal has also won numerous trophies at the Golden West Grand, the Las Vegas Fall & Mid-Winter Tournaments and at the many shoots around Arizona. He has earned All American honors on four teams, the Veteran team in 1999 and the Senior Veteran Team in 2001, 2005 and 2006. Hal has registered over 150,000 Singles, 177,000 Handicap and 96,000 Doubles.
